At the end of the project, the object effigies created are then burnt in symbolic punishment; a representation of the “removal” of the fear. As this is sometimes not feasible due to laws around arson and careless burning, there is also the option to physically destroy the work via other means [i.e: ripping apart, breaking, deconstructing]. However, this is still referred to as metaphorical burning, in spirit of how mass effigies and offerings are burnt.
